Zach is pursuing a PhD in Sociology with a secondary-field in Computational Science and Engineering. His research interests include machine learning and causal inference, social network analysis, economic history, and social theory. His dissertation examines the relationship between wealth accumulated from the Caribbean slave trade and UK economic development in the 18th and 19th centuries using several very large datasets.
