Iain's recent research has drawn on insights from American legal realism to analyse the ways that the rules of property, contract, and negotiable instruments shaped the structure of money and banking in England and Scotland during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. More generally, Iain's research interests include legal and economic history, monetary theory, and social and legal theory.
