Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Urban History

Description: The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) and the History Section of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (SHASS) have shared a faculty position in the area of urban history for more than a half century.  We jointly seek to appoint a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in the field of United States urban history since 1800, effective July 1, 2020. Scholars with interdisciplinary or comparative expertise are welcome to apply. The faculty position is jointly funded by the two units, with DUSP designated as the home department for the purposes of promotion and tenure.

Qualifications: A successful candidate must have received a Ph.D. (in history, urban planning, planning history, historical geography, American studies or a related field), or expect to do so by September 1, 2020.
