Brooklyn College, funded by the Ethel R. Wolfe Series on Classical Culture and the Contemporary World, will host The Cost of Freedom: Debt and Slavery on May 19-20, 2017. This conference will bring scholars from numerous disciplines into conversation across the historical timeline to examine how debt, value and payment work to create freedom, liberty and slavery. The deadline for abstracts is October 31, 2016. We will award bursaries taking into account access to institutional funding and the distance travelled.
